Can this issue not be corrected by default in Buddyboss? Would seem the more appropriate way to do it.

As far as I can tell, unless you use a widget, sitewide notices do not work at all. I’m not sure who at Buddypress thought a sidebar was the most appropriate place for such messages, given the length they can be and the range of devices people use.
