I could not get it to work after several tries, but I did find a plug in that did it for me and seems to be working.

It is called BP Remove Profile Links. I am worried about adding plug in after plug in as I have heard it can cause problems and slow repsonse etc, but at this point it is the only way to get the dang thing up and running given I know nothing about the back side stuff!
